 Anyone noticed the new Great Battles icon on the tactical map? If two very large armies go head to head a marker will automatically appear to mark the battlefield for all to see. I thought it would be a neat addition.

Here's a game that had a lot of Great Battles. Click on the Tactical Map tab above the overview map to see the locations of the great battles.

 Nifty new feature - if one of the games I'm in didn't have attacks consuming turns I would have seen it - about to have a total of 140 units of strength engage one another.

Does it depend on the sum of the sizes of the armies or the sum of the casualties? In either case, what's the minimum for the great battle icon to appear?

 The icon will appear if the total of each of the units involved is great than 25. You'll get different text the greater the unit strength.

 Well, I see the icon now - which will forever stand to present the failure of my massive attack :(

When you say different text, do you mean different fonts or that the font size increases?

I did notice that. 300 total unit strength.

Also, I think the message should display how many total units were involved, before the casualties.

Awesome addition, if only for aesthetics. Just as a bonus it could be fun if the attacker could name the battle, just for laughs. Like, the pop-up box could have a boldened title with something like "Battle of Hastings: This great battle..." Could give players something to do while waiting for turn updates.

above this, I don't know - haven't had anything that large yet.
