Things seem to be getting back into a relative groove, that while a mere shadow of pre-shutdown activity, this new surge has the potential to grow. With more players choosing to post in the forums, and even a handful opting to join the ToG IRC chat, player familiarity is again becoming a factor of the game. This ability for players to communicate and know eachother better has also increased the amoutn of premium memberships, which in turn allows for the most fun maps to be played. The only thing that this new breed of ToG generals lacks is competive clan play. I propose the dissoultion of old, inactive clans and the replacement of those dead entities with new, lively clans that have members who actually still play the game. I have made my attempt at this with GNG, and now have a fairly respectable amount of players. I call upon active and current clan leaders to kick players from their clan who have not logged in for some months now. Accompanuy their kick with a PM explaining the situation, and an invitiation to rejoin your clan if they choose to become active players again. With luck we may be able to show the new faces of ToG what clans can do in this game. I would love to browse through the game list and find many different clan battles takign place, and to read the reports on the forums. Finally, I ask that if this plan is enacted, that clan leaders warn, and then kick all players who lose interest in the game and stop playing. Cleaning the ranks of in-active players stops unnatural inflation of points, and allows for a more competetive atmosphere. Those that agree, feel free to post your approval, those that disagree please post alternatives/changes to my plan.

Thank you for reading, and I will see you on the battlefield!

*likes* That would be good to start anew. It would give a chance for small new lively clans to actually compete for top clan spot which would in turn create more games and premium accounts as it already has. I'm fairly new myself but this seems like a totally new community compared to ones past.

Me also likey this:P

no seriously. It's cool. But it would be a huge step for clans like D3stroyers and espacially the Warhammer Group. (only have seen one or two of them thus far)

If clan politics are going to be returning, it would be good for clans to reflect the reality of their player rosters - most of the players in many clans are no longer playing the game and haven't signed in for months (ex: LXG has had only one member active during the months of May, June, and July to date), and the top clans are mostly there by the fact that they had their successes months ago (or in many cases, over a year, before the shutdown).
I don't think you'll get clan leaders to go through their membership and remove members who have been inactive for weeks or months because many are not active themselves. Perhaps the more fruitful way to achieve this goal would be for admin to introduce an automated account deletion system. It would operate like CN, where players are deleted if they don't sign in (and collect taxes in CN, but taking a specific action won't be necessary for this trigger) for some period of time. I don't know if he would have a really good incentive to do this, but maybe having 16972 accounts that haven't been accessed anytime in 2010 (i.e.: last activity was Dec 31, 2009 or earlier) does use up server resources.

If clan politics really does return for good and brings about tangible benefits like good team games with other clans on a regular basis, I might even join one for the first time on my current account.

How does one remove inactive generals from their clan? There is no "kick" option per se. Atleast as far as I see.

Yes there is, if you demote a person below member it will remove them from your clan.
