Not sure if this has been discussed yet or not, but I would like to see ToG with an eventual terrain based map. It would be just like it is now, but instead, the map would have the various terrains and elevations that fit for that particular geographic location, each terrain with the potential to benefit one or both of the players. For an example, heavy wooded areas would provide more cover for soldiers, thus causing them to sustain less damage, but would be harder for tanks to get through. Just like the wooded areas, mountain regions would also slow down tanks, making your army's movement decrease while in that particular terrain, granted said army has tanks in it. It may be difficult to do, but it would add a whole new strategic element to the game, where position on the map would make much more of a difference. Environment has been a tool of military commanders and soldiers alike during wartime, for centuries. Any thoughts? |

sounds like it would be a good idea , more ways and tatics to think about when playing on diffrent maps. i like it persoanly , but with the problems people seem to be having with this version so far, i think it will cause even more complaints and questions for some people , and just sounds hard to program that into a game like this , but still a good idea i think |

Seems like it would be beyond easy coding to do, though it might make the game interesting. On the other hand, we need to remember that most people don't even know about the triangular unit relationship, so adding more complexity even if it could be done easily might not be advised. Actually something I would like would be the ability to set as default something other than "Map" as the display of the tactical map. It's just so much more pretty if you could have it look like this all the time: Posted Image |

Perhaps a terrain based map could be an option able to be chosen, that way people who would otherwise complain about it, could pick the standard map. I do know this would probably be extremely difficult to code, but it's a cool concept to think about. |

Nice idea, but it would become way too complicated. I don't really think it's going to work out that well, but we'll see when/if a version 2 comes out. |

Hint hint forum administrators ... it'd be great if you could drop a detail about whether admin will be making a V2 and perhaps some vague idea about something new that could be expected in it. ;) |

Cool, thank you admin. I appreciate the ability to customize the aesthetics of the game. With respect to the original point of this thread: I still think having terrain affect the battle odds would be cool, but it would be beyond the coding ability of the game (Google maps doesn't provide information about the terrain, so admin cannot code anything from it).
