Thoughts on the new navigation system?

So I was looking at the top navigation menu yesterday and saw how utterly cluttered it was and realized that it could use a makeover. I've tried to organize the links with new players in mind so that they'd be able to find what they are looking for with greater ease. If I've missed something or if you have any other thoughts on the new navigation system please share.

It's going to take me some getting used to :)

I think it is a improvement, but something doesn't feel right to me. I am guessing that it is just I had grown so accustomed to clicking around the old interface.

Personally, once logged in, I would move home and about to the far right.

I like how you added the IRC chat, maybe that will help it become more active in there. Also I am happy you left the old navigation intact. IE view clan/all clans/inbox/outbox from the profile screen, new game from the my games screen. Please leave the old links, and let the older players rely on those. It is helping me get used to the new navigation.

On the IRC chat link, I might recommend that you create a IRC channel devoted to players using that channel. That way you can control what topics are set, and who has mod status on the channel. I only say this, because with player unfamiliar with IRC, what they see there reflects upon the game.

Any chance of new maps or game types next?

Yes, it will take some getting use to, even for me. All the old buttons will remain in place. It's a little redundant but like you said, us old timers are use to the buttons and I have no problem with letting them stay at least until we all get use to the new top navigation menu.

The IRC channel has actually been in place for a long time now, it's link was just hidden at the bottom of the page along with the forum link. Maybe now we'll start to see more activity on the forums with the forum link now in a more prominent place.

I've got some ideas for some new maps. I'll try to roll some new ones out soon.

Could you make the IRC links in the clan descriptions link to mibbit for us as well? I think it would make things easier for everyone, and add to the clans feature.

Thanks for the update.

I like them how they are. Since the Profile and Games links are in the middle of the screen, they're easy to reach no matter where your mouse is when the page loads.

to tell you the truth i hate it...

You should make it so we can chose between the old and new...

just like myspace 1.0 or myspace 2.0 but in this case TOG

Reason i dont like it is it is really hard to get used to and takes more time the old one...

Yes it is good the first 10min but then later it's hard. Epically if your playing more then 1 game at same time.

Well I agree with the changes that were recently made to myspace. There is a lot of links and information on myspace and anytime they can reduce clutter and organize things the better.

Also, you can click on the top 'Games' link without having to drop down which will take you directly to your active games list. That should help you out if you're playing multiple games at once.

Any likelihood of making the IRC channel in the clan fields go to mibbit for them? If that's not possible, could the IRC field of our clan pages at least support a clickable link?
For example, I would use my short link: http://LXG.nfshost.com but if it's not clickable(it's not), then it would just be confusing.

The code would just look like wrapping whatever channel they had typed with:
Code:

[url]http://widget.mibbit.com/?settings=277831f5a81c6302528cbc1844c01202&server=irc.coldfront.net&channel=%23[/url][big]CLANSIRCCHANNEL[/big]&noServerNotices=true&noServerMotd=true&autoConnect=true

And hopefully have it open as a new window. Just saying, since we have the IRC channel field, and most of our users are using mibbit, it would make sense to make the IRC field link to the channel.
